Disney Museum | DizLander - 01

Photos by Elora and Grady Lyda - Wednesday, June 17, 2015

This is Elora's third trip to The Walt Disney Family Museum (first time for me, Grady)
She loves to visit museums wherever she travels, but she says this is her favorite
Before entering the Museum Galleries, you will see hundreds of Walt Disney's awards in the Lobby, including the funny, honorary 1939 Academy Award for Snow White and the Seven Oscars
Almost everyone knows about Walt's private hideaway above the Firehouse on Main Street, but now you can see the inside

This one-of-a-kind scrapbook has been scanned so that each precious page is accessible on the nearby monitor, along with relevant video clips. Regarding the original physical book, the staff regularly changes it to a new page to be seen by returning guests.
"The Lost Notebook" is available at the Museum's gift shop for $75 -- that's a lot of money!  Instead, I ordered a copy on Amazon for about half that and so can you. You also might want to get this massive biography (800+ pages), "Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination." It is full of rare photos and information, so I refer to it often.

If you love books, here's another one for you. It is the life story of my mother's dad (my grandfather & Elora's great grandfather), the amazing impressionist artist, Charles Wilimovsky, who was one of Walt's teachers at the Art Institute when he lived in Kansas City, Missouri.

Clearly, Elora is cooking up something fantastic. Just wait and see...

You can freely explore all 10 of the museum's galleries online. It is a little tricky to find those interactive webpages, but you can easily get to them thru this link: http://www.waltdisney.org/interactive-galleries#
