Six Short Films: Elora's Project - 03

Videos, Artwork and Text by Elora Gracel Lyda

"Fenix Down" is a fictional film that my group and I created for a title sequence project done for a Type in Motion class at UCLA. It follows the story of a really messed up girl who gets a second chance at life, which is represented by the transition between the real world and the animated world shown in the piece.  Shot with a Nikon DSLR | Edited/Animated in Adobe After Effects CS4 | Music: Metric - Dr. Blind

Visual Speech Project for George Carlin's "Dirty Words" performance. Each word was shot separately in various locations.

I produced, shot, acted in, directed and edited this video for the 2011 Roger's Gardens Halloween themed "Blackstone Theater." The Merchandising Team puts on quite a show over there every year, and I thought it was about time to show it off in a creative fashion.

A young thief searching for a place to hide finds an "abandoned" back-alley theater, only to learn she isn't as alone as she thought. Join her in discovering the secrets of the Blackstone Theater, haunted by ghosts of past performances.

[SPOILER ALERT: I (Elora's Dad) watched this video many times before I caught the subtle surprise ending... In the final seconds, we see that the ghosts are united in their effort to terrify the thief so badly that she runs off, leaving her bag of loot behind.]
Pre-conceived costume designs that I was able to put together pretty accurately from various costume/thrift stores
This was completed from start to finish in a period of roughly 2 weeks, from the storyboards to the costume hunting, shooting and post production done in Adobe After Effects + Premiere Pro
YAY! About time I use my Canon T2i to shoot a real video :)  Produced, Directed, Shot & Edited by Elora LydaCast: Amanda Herbert (Thief), Spencer Herbert (Director Ghost), Emily McKibben (Diva Ghost), Sylvr Robinson (Spider Lady Ghost), Elora Lyda (Geisha Ghost), James (Man's Voice) | Hair and Makeup: Nadien Garcia | Sets provided by the talented Roger's Gardens Merch Team :)

Done for a project in Fall 2008. This is a kinetic painting of Greg Spalenka's "The Bouquet." My very first Adobe After Effects project!!! =) Music: Owl City - "This Is The Future"

Love Love Yakuza! from Elora Lyda on Vimeo

[In this funny love story, Elora (center above) plays a pivotal role while speaking fluent Japanese - it's not translated, but you can figure it out]

Video for final Japanese 3 Create Skit Project. Sorry no subtitles.... those will come with time. =\  Collaboratively written, directed and edited with my buddy Cindy Chi. =)  The girl in lolita. Haha. Filmed at the UCLA campus.

Personal Bubble from Elora Lyda on Vimeo

This was a stop motion experiment done for my Motion Class in Fall 2008. It's supposed to be a self portrait... but I never actually finished this so I guess it kind of has the wrong message about me. =\  I used to be in my own little bubble! But I swear I'm starting to break out of it!!! xD
