Concept for a rotating 360° holographic cylinder that would serve as a Point of Purchase display for 3D pendants

I was working with these advanced holograms in the late 1970s. Now here we are in the 21st Century and I'm wondering what happened to all the cool 3D stuff we started 40 years ago. What the heck! This 2012 Vocaloids video shows the kind of things we were expecting in those days. Not bad, but we should have fully immersive realistic holodeck environments by now. Where's the problem?
This isn't even an actual hologram... It's really a 2D projection on a plexiglass screen.
